Where do I begin with a film like this, should I start with the obvious angle of how inaccurately it portrays cheating, or how these characters wouldn’t exist in actual non-Hollywood life or, perhaps I’ll open with the ending… Yes perhaps the ending.
The basic premise of this movie (shocked you didn’t I, well, what can I say…), is geek falls in love in law school does not confess her undying devotion for jock and six years, one engagement to a best friend and three beers later you have a “accident”. Please tell me you can figure out where things go from there... I love you’s are said, the “pick me not her” moments and the scene you could see coming from the moment the movie began, the declaration of love in the rain where geek tells lover she wants to have a life with him, a future.
The main character is presented as having character and a decent head on her shoulders; she’s smart, a semi bad dresser and tragically in love. Here’s the problem, she actually clueless, and much more so then you ditzy best friend. Throughout the movie, time and time, and time again, she allows the male lead to toy with her emotions and has a rather annoying inability to make a decision on her own. The supporting cast is kind of funny and nonsensical, which was one good thing about this movie…
The male lead is a douche bag, he’s afraid to take control of this life and go with his heart in the end he has a love concurs all experience but I thought it was too little too late.
I might be a little bitter over this movie, I went with a friend and bet her a whole nickel that the protagonist would choose the male best friend who is obviously and painfully in love with her...and I lost.
It’s the writers really, they must have one twisted sense of love if they are able to produce a movie such as this and, well, be happy with it.
It leaves a bad taste in your mouth ladies and gents, and sadly the only cure is not buying your ticket in the first place.
